Alicorn Systems, based in Colerain, is the largest technology company in Centralia.

Founded in 1987 as a manufacturer of IBM PC clones, Alicorn soon branched out into further product lines, including telecommunications products, personal media players, physical and digital retail stores, and software.

Today, Alicorn is best known for the Crystal series of smartphones and the Blathr social networking service. The company is also known as a major supplier of computers and other electronics to the Centralian government, including Centralia's public schools.

Products

Hardware

  • Alicorn 1: Alicorn's first entry into the smartphone market, released in September 2013. Advertised as "the first smartphone for otherkin" and released to middling reviews, the device became an unexpected crossover success; the device established Alicorn as a leader in an industry that, until then, was dominated by rival company Omnivius Industries. Shipped with a customized version of Android 4.1, initially unbranded but later named PegasOS as part of an update to 4.3.

  • AlicornCrystal: The successor series to the Alicorn 1, manufactured since 2014.

  • Alicorn Harmony: A line of personal media players, introduced in 2003.

  • Alicorn Twilight: A series of tablet computers, introduced in 2014 as a companion line to the 1/Crystal smartphone line and a competitor to Omnivius's Quartet series.

  • Royale: A line of studio headphones produced and marketed in partnership with BlazeHiFi since 2022, based on the bespoke headphones commissioned by PrincessAlice.

Software

  • ChirpChirp: An instant messaging client. Developed since 1999 after its acquisition from failed software developer Collusion Corp. Notably used as the internal student messaging network at DameAdorabellesAcademy.

  • FairyMessenger: An IM client designed to allow easy communication with Centralian Fairies. Developed since 2000.

  • LeprechaunMail: A mail server intended for use by leprechauns. Purchased from Collusion in 1999.

  • NetBlab: A general use mail server client. Developed since 2000.

  • PegasOS: The customized version of Android running on all Alicorn smartphones. Introduced in 2013.
