Organization
While the Royal Centralia Civil Guard is formally styled as a gendarmerie, in practice, little about it is military in nature, in keeping with the broadly pacifist nature of Centralian politics.

Jurisdiction
While its officers exercise nationwide jurisdiction, the Royal Centralia Civil Guard primarily provides police services to unincorporated areas, municipalities with populations less than 50,000, and Crown properties within larger municipalities. Municipalities with a population of 50,000 or greater are required maintain independent local police services, though the Royal Centralia Civil Guard may be called for assistance within city limits.
