Ludomera Lucknovic de Mahoning-Hokendaqua is a Centralian noblewoman and speaker of the upper house of the Centralian Parliament. She is the leader of what is generally informally termed the Mahoning Clique, a group of nobility and businessmen who have a shared interest in proposing and passing liberal reforms in the principality. In addition to her political career, Mahoning is also an accomplished swordsman, rhotist, equestrian, and lesbian. She is of mixed Pennsylvania German and Croatian heritage, and is described as tall, fair, and with long golden-blonde hair.
Mahoning’s efforts at legislative reform are often roadblocked by her apparent failure to understand that The Principality of Centralia is a state run firstly by decree and secondly by magical law, with the parliament acting largely as an advisory body and formal title of honor. That many of Mahoning’s fellow Lords, Ladies, and Lieges are aliens, fairies, or other magical beings seems to never occur to her as a possible cause of her continual legislative failures. Undeterred, she carries on with immense dignity and pomp.
An abridged list of failed legislation and motions introduced by Mahoning:
A law to replace the Centralian Lollipop with a “more regular and dignified” fiat currency. (Defeated 78-23)
- A law to redraw all current Centralian Lollipop currency designs, “to honor our nation’s heroes and grandest citizens”, as opposed to the current designs, mostly depictions of the reigning monarch and fanciful patterns and creatures such as unicorns. (Defeated 91-20)
A law to replace the Centralian Lollipop’s currency symbol (🍭) with a blackletter capital L. (Vetoed by Princess Alice before voting could begin)
A law that would replace “Wisps and Spectres of Good Fortune” (i.e. SafetyFairy) with a proper Safety Standards & Practices Office. (Defeated 76-25)
- A law to regulate Centralian army, navy, air force, astroforce, and informational warfare uniforms. (Defeated 91-20)
A motion to invade the neighboring nation of Discordantia and oppose the reigning TsarinaMalice, described in the text of the motion as a “police action”. (Defeated 99-2)
