History

Prior to the formation of CentRail, a number of small privately-owned railways provided passenger and freight service to various regions of Centralia.

PrincessJeanette, in an effort to modernize Centralia's transportation network, nationalized all intercity railways, placing them under the management of a centralized agency known as Centralia Unified Railways, a division of CenDOT. Today, CentRail operates all railways within Centralia, with the exception of regional light rail, commuter rail, and other mass transit networks, which fall under the purview of regional transit authorities such as CapitalAreaTransit.

Divisions

The names of the individual regional railways that were combined to form CentRail are still used today to identify the network's various divisions.

Butterscotch Railway

The Butterscotch Railway roughly parallels the Butterscotch River, running from the Mumuland border, through the communities of Bellefield and ButterscotchValley, south to ButtercupBay on the coast. A branch near Vandalia connects to the Northland Valley Railway.

Northland Valley Railway

The Northland Valley Railway serves the NorthlandValley region, including the communities of Bellefield, HawthorneValley, October, Caramel, and CalicasCorner. The railway mostly parallels C-96, the primary highway through the Northland Valley, with a branch running southwest from Hawthorne Valley to Vandalia, where it connects with the Butterscotch Railway.

Queen City and Western Railway

The Queen City and Western Railway (QCW) runs west from QueenCity, through Havensborough and Colerain, to ButtercupBay at the coast, where it connects with the Butterscotch Railway.

As the primary rail link between Queen City and Havensborough, the QCW is a frequent route for PrincessAlice's Royal Train, transporting the princess between the PalaceOfSerenity and DameAdorabellesAcademy.

Former lines

The infamous RailroadTrackLeadingToACliffAndNowhereElse was part of the CentRail network, but has since been decommissioned and turned into a historic site.
