History
Grand Central Parkway was constructed concurrently with the expansion of the Sherbet Shopping District. The southern portion of Grand Central Parkway replaced the former Cemetery Street, while the northern portion replaced the former Chittenden Street. A short stretch of parkway was constructed along a new alignment to connect the two existing alignments and bypass the nearby Bixby Cemetery. Short portions of both Cemetery Street and Chittenden Street still exist, discontinuous from Grand Central Parkway.
