>Parliamentary District<
>QueenCity, Centralia|| The Senate of Centralia is supposedly one of the two legislative bodies of Centralia, alongside Parliament. While Parliament convenes formally in the palatial Parliament Hall in QueenCity, the Senate meets in a former XS-Mart store across the street. The Senate "chambers" appear very hastily thrown together, with senators sitting at folding tables while members of the public sit in those awful uncomfortable chairs like they have in the BMV waiting area. Senate sessions are often extremely informal, with many senators showing up in T-shirts and jeans. Unlike Parliament Hall, which is guarded by the special Parliamentary Unit of the CentraliaHonorGuard, security for the senate is the sole duty of the Sergeant-at-Arms, a bored-looking man of ambiguous age who wears an ill-fitting generic security guard uniform and usually sits in the corner playing on an old laptop. Previously, senators were frequently interviewed about Centralian politics by major news outlets, including CenTV News. This has become less common, however, after a particularly astute reporter asked the Speaker of the Senate "Are you sure you're actually part of the government?" and the Speaker declined to answer. ---- CategoryCivics
