Grener Computer Supply is a computer and consumer electronics store located on Chamberlain Avenue on QueenCity's west side, in a strip mall by a vacant former XS-Mart store. Grener is owned and operated by AlicornSystems and is often known as Grener Alicorn, though this name is not used on signage.
History
Grener Computer Supply was founded in 1987 by brothers Hanson and Jules Grener as an independent computing and electronics store. In 1991, Grener became the first official distributor of Alicorn products.
Alicorn acquired Grener Computer Supply outright in 1996, though the Grener brothers remained on board and continued to oversee the store's day-to-day operations.
In the early 2010s, Alicorn executives considered shuttering Grener Computer Supply, citing low sales, though they quickly changed course after the success of the Alicorn Crystal line of smartphones from 2013 onward made Grener a popular destination for gadget lovers.
Future
In January 2017, Alicorn announced the opening of a new retail chain, the Alicorn Store, with the first locations opening in May-June 2017. The new venture will be headed by the Grener brothers. The original Chamberlain Avenue store is expected to continue operating as normal, though Jules Grener will be leaving its day-to-day operations to oversee the flagship Alicorn Store in downtown Colerain.
