Colerain City Hall is the seat of government for the city of Colerain and the workplace of Mayor ElleHawthorne.

History

Built in 1921, City Hall served Colerain for decades before falling into a state of disrepair during the 1970s. By the mid-1980s, many city offices had relocated to rented space in commercial buildings, leaving large portions of City Hall vacant.

In 1990, Colerain City Council approved a project to renovate and restore City Hall in two phases. Phase 1 of the renovation was completed in 1993, with several essential city services moving into the new office spaces that year. However, no further progress was made on the restoration, and to this day, large sections of City Hall sit abandoned and unrenovated.

Parking garage

In 1965, a parking garage was built adjacent to City Hall. The garage consists of three levels of parking, one underground and two above ground, and connects directly to City Hall on all three levels.

Today, the garage remains in service, though the entrance to City Hall from the uppermost level is blocked off, as it leads directly to the disused section of the building.
